Edwin was the youngest of six children of William Thomas (aka Gilbert) Webster (b1857 in Surrey, England) and Selina Manser (b1856 in Bothwell, Tasmania). William - a Commercial Traveller - and Selina married in 1883 in Campbell Town, Tasmania.
Edwin was a Labourer in Bothwell, Tasmania when he enlisted in the AIF (Private; Service No:2413). He served with 40th Battalion 4th Reinforcements and was WiA on two occasions in 1917 in France. Edwin was Discharged in 1918. Brother Tasman (Trooper; Service No:662) also served in WWI and was KiA in Turkey in 1915.
Edwin returned to Bothwell, Tasmania where he worked as a Labourer. He died in 1972.
