Son of Jesse Howse and Sophia Jane Howse nee Freeman of Swift Street, Albury, NSW. Brother of Jesse Christopher Howse who returned to Australia on 17 October 1916 having served with the 2nd Battalion.
Husband of Ruby Irene Howse nee Chilton of Meadsfield Road, Langley, Berkshire, England. William and Ruby married on 31 January 1918 in the Registry Office, Brentford, Middlesex. Fate unknown. Registrar A.H. Pittard officiated.
Commenced return to Australia on 3 July 1919 aboard HT Zealandia disembarking on 23 August 1919 at Melbourne for onward travel to Sydney.
