Bert Frederick Williams was one of five brothers who enlisted in the AIF. He was the son of Charles William and Matilda Williams of Parkes, New South Wales. His mother had passed away a month after he was born.
His brothers who served were, 6853 Pte. Robert Miers Williams 35th Battalion AIF, killed in action 6 April 1918, aged 19.

2030 L.Cpl. Walter Waldron Williams 18th Battalion AIF, RTA 12 May 1918. (shrapnel wound to back)
6849 L.Cpl. William Arthur Williams 18th Battalion AIF, RTA 5 March 1919. (twice wounded, discharged medically unfit)
Bert Williams joined the 18th Battalion at the front on 9 March 1918. He was sent away sick during July 1918. He was eventually sent to England with a disordered action of the heart. He was returned to Australia with debility, on 4 January 1919 and discharged from the AIF, medically unfit, ‘dilated action of the heart’, during April 1919.
He married Elsie in 1927 and lived until he was 72 years of age.
