Andrew Waugh was born in May 1895, in the town of Marylands, South Australia. His mother was Ann Margaret Sarah Waugh (whom he listed as his next of kin on his enlistment forms) and he resided at - 142 Magill Road, Norwood, Adelaide, South Australia. He was a suit maker by occupation, and, his description upon enlistment was a fresh complexion, hazel eyes, and brown hair.
Waugh had previously served in 3 years in the AMC and an additional 9 months in the AGH. He enlisted as an A.I.F. Private in Adelaide on the 16th of February 1916, aged 21 year, and 7 months. He embarked from Adelaide on 31 of May 1916 on board HMAT Suevic arriving in Plymouth, England 51 days later the 21st of July. Waugh later proceeded overseas to France.
His waswounded in action was on the 12th of October 1917. He was admitted to hospital and sent to England for treatment and recovery on the 29th of October 1917. He did not return to France until October 1918.
On the 9th of October 1919, Waugh commenced his return to Australia on board 'Ajana', disembarking from Adelaide on the 18th of August 1919. As written on his enlistment form, Waugh was discharged at the age of 25 on the 19th of August 1919. No further records of his life after his serving in the AIF can be found, other than he is buried in the AIF Cemetery in West Terrace, Adelaide, South Australia.
