'MEN OF THE DARDANELLES.
PRIVATE G. LILLIE.
Private G. Lillie, of the 9th Battalion, who was killed in action on May 22, was aged 20 years, and was born at Paddington. He was the youngest son of Mr. F. W. Lillie. He lived for some years at Wellington-street, Waterloo, with his grandparents, and attended the Redfern Public School. In 1909 he was awarded by a vote of the school a special prize for popularity. After he left school he was for a time in a solicitor's office. He then joined his brother at Stationview, Killarney South, in Queensland. He joined the 1st Australian Division at Warwick. He was on board the troopship to which a portion of the Emden's crew were transferred.' from The Sydney Morning Herald 13 Jul 1915 (nla.gov.au)
