Able Seaman Ronald Leopold Petfield (Service No:B2810) served in the RAN from 19 September 1940 to 23 November 1945. His three older brothers served in the Army.

Ron was born in Brisbane, QLD in 1922, the youngest of four children of Arthur Petfield (b1888 in Brisbane, QLD) and Florence Jane Mott (b1887 in Brisbane, QLD). Arthur (a Carpenter) and Florence married in 1912 in Brisbane, QLD where they settled and raised their family and Arthur worked as a Carpenter and Builder.

In 1942 in Brisbane, Ron married Joyce Mary Gilbert (b1923 in Brisbane, QLD) and following his Discharge from the RAN, the couple settled in Brisbane where they raised their family and Ron worked as a Storeman and Tram Conductor. Joyce died in 2008 and Ron in 2014.
