Adermann Samuel Charles S/Corporal 3678 11th Field Ambulance Brigade

Samuel Charles Adermann was born 8 Dec 1891 near the town of Ipswich per his military records. He was apprenticed to Charles Mason of Rosewood for 5 years but when he enlisted in the 11th Field Ambulance Brigade on 30 Aug 1915 he was a Police Constable probably based at Townsville as that is where he enlisted. His next of kin was noted as his father, C Adermann, Wooroolin
Elizabeth Caffrey also mentioned Samuel in her Anzac Day speech at Wooroolin in 2021: Robert’s younger brother, Samuel, (22) a police constable, joined a couple of months later in 1915. He too, was attached to an artillery unit but survived. His two sons, Jack and Samuel served during WW2.
Samuel married Edith Pritchard a couple of months after he joined the army. He returned to Australia in 1919 and continued life as a Policeman. Samuel died in 1986 and is buried at Toowong Cemetery.
Two of their brother-in-law’s also served during WW1 and are listed on the Wooroolin WW1 Honour Board. Kenneth George Patterson who enlisted in the 42nd Australian Infantry Battalion on 3 Dec 1915 and Joseph Sheriff Steele who enlisted on 3 May 1915 in the 11th Light House Regiment A.I.F.
