Biography
Francis Joseph (Frank) joined as an Officer No. 292 as he had served 11 years 11 months in Vic. Scotish Regt. then 1 year 9 months Prov. Lieu in Aust.Intelligence Corp 5th. M,D. as detailed on Application for a Commission in the A.M.Forces Ref. Nos. W17/2709.
He was posted to13th/11th Battn. as Lieutenant, later Captain (28/4/1916).
Embarked 17.1.16 at Freemantle on H.M.A.T. A30 "BORDA" disembarked at Marseilles via Suez. Received a G.S.W elbow and sent to hospital in England then back to France. He was wounded on a number of times. He returned to Australia then back to France in Nov. 1917 to be gassed and wounded.
He returned to Australia 29 Dec.1918 and discharged 9 May 1919 as M.U.
He reenlisted 1 March 1940 as Captain V83120 at South Melbourne.
