Ordinary Seaman Kevin Steindl (Service No:B4724) enlisted in the RAN on 15 June 1943, and served on HMAS Cerberus, Melville, Interlock, Majestic. O/S Steindl was attached to HMAS Moreton at Discharge on 12 June 1946. Older brother Neil served in the Army in WWII.

Kevin was born in Bundaberg, QLD in 1925, ninth of ten children of Anthony (Tony) Steindl (b1883 in Bundaberg, QLD) and Myra Sheridan O'Brien (b1886 in Maryborough, QLD). Tony was a Tinsmith in 1904 when he and Myra married in Bundaberg, where they settled and raised their family. By 1912, Tony was a Carter, and was active in the Bundaberg racing community.

Kevin was a Hairdresser in Bundaberg, where in 1948 he married Joyce Catherine Connolly (b1926 in Bundaberg, QLD). Kevin and Joyce settled in Bundaberg, where they raised their family and Kevin was a Hairdresser until retirement. Joyce died in 1991 and Kevin in 2017.
