Captain JJ Daley MC 43rd Battalion enlisted in Adelaide on 10 August 1915. He was granted his commission in September 1916 and his 1st Lieutenancy in march 1917. He was promoted to Captain in September 1919. The award of the Military Cross was gazetted on 25th August 1917 and he was presented with the decoration by the King at Buckingham Palace on 26 June 1918. Captain Daley was a gracer in civilian life. he returned to SA on the Wahehe in late 1919.
