Ordinary Seaman William Lindsay Turner (Service No:H1228) served in the RAN from 6 June 1940 to 6 May 1942. O/S Turner served on HMAS Cerberus, Derwent and Kuttabul and was attached to HMAS Penguin at Discharge.

Third of five children, Bill was born in Inveresk, Tasmania in 1912 to Charles Henry Turner (b1883 in Carrick, Tasmania) and Jane Agnes Milne (b1883 in Samford, Victoria). Charles (a Baker's Apprentice) and Jane married in 1905 in Launceston, where they settled and raised their family and Charles worked as a Labourer and Driver. Charles served in WWI (Private; Service No:285).

Bill was a Seaman, and in 1936 in Victoria married Jean Margaret Oliver (b1915 in Murchison, Victoria). They settled in Launceston, where Bill was a Seaman. Bill died in 1981.
