Garnet Edmund Iles TINSON was born in West Maitland, New South Wales on 18th August, 1887

His parents were Albert Henry TINSON & Sarah Agnes Annie Charlotte DENNY

He has previously served for 6 years & 3 months with the 6th Light Horse Regiment before he enlisted to serve in WW1 on 27th August, 1914 & embarked from Sydney on 20th October, 1914 with the 1st Light Horse Regiment on the HMAT Star of Victoria

He married Martha BROWN in Maitland in 1911 - 3 known children, Katie, Garnet & Doris

Garnet sustained gun shot wounds to his legs  at Gallipoli & died on board  the HS Dunluce Castle on 9th August, 1915 and was buried at sea - his name is memorialsed on the Australian War Memorial & the Lone Pine Memorial

His brother Walter Ernest Richard TINSON (SN 3499) also served during WW1 and returned to Australia in 1919
