Military Medal
'For conspicuous daring and initiative near HARBONNIERES, East of VILLERS-BRETONNEUX on 8th August 1918. His Company came under close artillery fire soon after the advance commenced, from a battery of four guns. By crawling forward he succeeded in working to the flanks of the battery and brought his Lewis gun into action and prevented the enemy gunners from manning their guns until his platoon came up and dealt with the crews. Throughout the operations of 8th and 9th August 1918 he has been untiring in his efforts, never once having left his gun for a rest. He has at all times displayed great gallantry and initiative.'
