From the records of the Prevost family

Born 3rd of March 1900 at Elton, Newnham-0n-Severn, the younger son 0f E.W. Prevost and Emma Proudfoot.
Passed into the Royal Navy by the Special Entry July 1918.
March 1920 was gazetted Midshipman to HMS Hood (Capt W. Tomkinson) which was serving in the home fleet. Promoted to Sub. Lieut in January 1922 and later appointed to HMS Woolwich at Devonport for destroyers.
Served on HMS Valkyrie (1923), HMS Vancouver (1924-26), HMS Hermes on the China Station till December 1929.
In February 1930 Ted was appointed 1st Lieut of HMS Tiverton. During this commission his ship was twice chosen to escort HM Yacht Britannia during the yachting season and was fortunate to meet, and was invited to sail with yachting masters, Sir Philip Hunloke (Britannia), Tom Sopwith and Sir Tomas Lipton. During this period he met Marjorie Scott, daughter of Capt W. Scott RN and married in Weymouth on 9th December 1931. Unfortunately tragedy was about to strike their marriage.
In October 1932 he was appointed to HMS Eagle (aircraft carrier) for service to the China Station.
Sailing from Devonport in April 1933 with his wife following by passenger steamer were caught in a typhoon and Marjorie lost her life. 20th October, 'Yashima Maru' near Kobe, Japan.
Appointed to HMS Basset in command when he met and married Joan Anette Prevost (Australian cousin) Dockyard Church Portland 18 July 1937.

In April 1939 Ted volunteered for loan to the Royal Australian Navy. On the outbreak of war he joined HMAS Swan in command and senior officer 20th minesweeping flotilla. Later appointed to the Navel Base at Sydney in charge of local minesweepers.
Returned to England in May 1944 and appointed to HMS Antares 19th M/S Flotilla, joining the ship in the Mediterranean.
May 1945 Commander M/S Adriatic having under his command 32 Auxiliary Minesweepers, 24 Motor M/S, 12 auxiliaries and a large base of staff for the maintenance of the ships.
Ted volunteered to extend his time in the service remaining at Trieste until April 23rd, sailed back to England while waiting passage to Sydney 25th July 1946.
