Able Seaman Desmond Thomas John Adams (Service No:32352) enlisted in the RAN as an Ordinary Seaman on 31 March 1943 and was attached to HMAS Nizam when he was promoted to Able Seaman on 14 March 1944. Able Seaman Adams was attached to HMAS Penguin when he Discharged on 13 December 1948.

Born in 1925 in Melbourne Victoria, Des was the youngest of three (two surviving) children of William Clarence Lionel Adams (b1896 in Jumbunna, Victoria) and Mary Catherine Connop (b1897 in Talbotville, Victoria). William (a Miner) and Mary married in 1920 in Melbourne, Victoria and lived at Jumbunna, Korumburra and Melbourne before Divorcing in 1934. Mary worked as a Waitress and General Help in Melbourne before remarrying, and William worked as a Miner and casual Labourer.

Following his Discharge from the RAN, Des worked in Melbourne as a Painter. He died in 1977.
