During 1912c Joseph married Elizabeth A. Bunker at Crookwell, NSW. Elizabeth died later that year

Commenced return to Australia on 19 June 1919 aboard Miltiades disembarking on the 8 August 1919 at Melbourne for onward travel to Sydney, NSW
