Albert was the son of Robert Benjamin and Mary Paxton. He married Vera Limb in 1922 and they had one son. Albert had a brother Robert Benjamin who was killed in France on 4 September 1916.
Awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal;
"For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He rushed his machine gun into position, and repelled an enemy counter attack under very heavy fire. He assisted in holding a most important position, and by his courage and resource saved a critical situation." 07 Aug 1918
