Memorial of a Brave Life

Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Field, of Car-

rington Avenue. Dubbo, are in receipt

of a handsome scroll surmounted by the

Imperial Coat of Arms and bearing

these words:— "He whom this scroll

commemorates was numbered among

those who, a the call of King and

country, left all that was dear to them,

endured hardships, faced danger, and

finally passed out of the sight of men

by the path of duty and sacrifice,

giving up their own lives that others

might live in freedom.

"Let those who come after see to it

that his name be not forgotten.

"CORPL. AUBREY LESLIE FIELD,

10th F.A.B., A.I.F."

Accompanying the scroll is an auto-

autograph letter from the King, which

reads: —

"Buckingham Palace

"I join with my grateful people in

sending you this memorial of a brave

life given for others in the Great War.

GEORGE R.I."

It is little memorials such its those

that appeal to the hearts of parents and

others, whose dear ones made the

Supreme Sacrifice in the cause of justice

and freedom against might and

tyranny, and gives them consolation in

the knowledge that their King is not

unmindful or forgetful of the loyalty

of those who did and died for King and

Empire. Mr. and Mrs. Field are

naturally very proud of this memorial,

and it is safe to say it will occupy an

honored place in their household.
