Son of Thomas John Orde and Maria Orde nee Cambridge of Sternberg Street, Bendigo, Victoria.

Brother of Kenneth Cambridge Orde who returned to Australia on 21 March 1918 javing served with the 1st Divisional Signal Company.

Commenced return to Australia from Taranto on 24 September 1918 aboard HT Kaiser-i-Hind then transhipped to HT Devon on 10 October 1918 and disembarking on 23 November 1918

During 1920c Thomas married Annie Frances McGorm in Victoria
