'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He was in charge of a carrying party, but when all the senior officers in the attacking companies had become casualties he assumed command, and, after reorganising, moved forward to the capture of the last objective. he rendered valuable service during the consolidation, and his cheerfulness, pluck, and determination during the advance were an example to all.'

The son of the late Dr. and Mrs. Bluett, late of Staffordshire, England. He married Clare Louise Gillard, from Essex, England. Enlisted at Rockhampton in June, 1915, and went into camp at Enoggera. Went through the N.C.O. Schools, and was granted his Commission in November, 1915, and attached to the 13thRfts. of the 9th Battalion, Sailed for Egypt in January, 1916, and left for England in May, 1916, and subsequently went to France in September, 1919. Went into action at Armentieres, Baupaume, Bullecourt, Messines, Polygon Wood, and Passchendaele Ridge. Awarded the Military Cross for conspicuous bravery at Hooge on the 20th September, 1917, and was decorated on the field by General Birdwood. Severely wounded on the 3rd November, 1917, and died of wounds the same day. Lieutenant Bluett had four other brothers on active service; - taken from "Queenslanders who fought in the Great War".
