Son of Denis Edward O'Callaghan and Alice O;Callaghan nee Elms of Prentice Street, East St Kilda, Victoria.
Served his five year wicker making apprenticeship with P. Holt of Lonsdale Street, Melbourne, Victoria.
On 3 July 1918 Denis married Alice Woodhouse in the Church of our Lady and the Enlgish Martys, Hills Road, Cambridge, England. Catholic Priest Christopher Scott ofiiciated
