Harlie Muir ECKFORD was born in 1895 in West Maitland, NSW
His parents were Alick William Henry ECKFORD and Emily BRACKENREY
He enlisted on 26th April, 1916 with the Australian Army - he was with the 34th Battalion, 4th reinfocements - unit embarked from Sydney on board HMAT Borda on 17th October 1916 -he also served with the 13th Battalion in France & Belgium
Harlie was Killed in Action on 24th September, 1917 near Polygon Wood - no known grave - he is listed on the Ypres (Menin Gate ) Memorial in Belgium and also honoured on the Australian War Memorial - he was awarded the British War Medal and the Victory Medal
