Lieutenant Marian Langhorne Fleming (Service Nos:NF389464/NFX165666) initially served in the AAMWS (7 February 1942 - 5 April 1943) as a Sergeant attached to 113 Australian General Hospital Concord and VAD 2 Coy, and was a Lieutenant when she enlisted in the AIF (AAWMS) on 6 April 1943. Lieutenant Fleming served in New Guinea (14 September 1945 - 21 December 1945), and was attached to 109 Casualty Clearing Station (CCS) at Termination of Appointment on 28 March 1946.

Born in Aberdeen via Scone, New South Wales in 1910, Marian was the third child of Thomas Hastie Fleming (b1870 in Ballarat, Victoria) and Naomi Marian Fulton Langhorne (b1886 in Collarenibri via Walgett, New South Wales). Thomas (a Grazier at Ullah Station via Walgett, and a Magistrate) and Naomi married in 1906 in Sydney, and settled at Russley in Aberdeen via Scone, where they raised their family and Thomas was a Grazier and Dairy Farmer. Thomas served on Pasture Protection Boards for the Upper Hunter Region.

Marian was engaged in 'Home Duties' when she enlisted in the Army, and following Discharge in 1946, married Captain Maxwell Eden Fleming in Sydney. Max (b1908 in Sydney, New South Wales) served in WWII on a contractual basis with the US Army's Small Ships Division -  he had detailed knowledge of the area and had prepared maps of Buka and Bougainville Islands. Marian settled at Russley in Aberdeen and Max was a Manager at Karoola Plantation in Bougainville, where he died in 1963. Marian died in 1992.
