He was one of three Hindhaugh brothers who fell. They were sons of William Hindhaugh-died 6 May 1920 and Jane Hindhaugh-died 7 February 1927. They rest in Yambuk Cemetery, Victoria and there are memorials to all three brothers there.

Private Victor William Hindhaugh (pictured below) was born at St. Helens, Victoria in 1897. He enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force (A.I.F.) on 28th July, 1915 as an 18 year old Grazier & Stockman. He was discharged prior to embarkation due to family reasons on 18th April, 1916, after serving 281 days.
Private Hindhaugh reenlisted on 15th September, 1916 & arrived in England on 28th December, 1916.
Private Hindhaugh was sent to Fargo Military Hospital – sick on 10th February, 1917 & admitted on 11th February, 1917. He died on 18th February, 1917 from Pneumonia.
On this day 3 Australian SOLDIERS died and were buried in Durrington Cemetery Wiltshire (Coles & Hindhaugh were buried on 20th February & McMurtie was buried on 21st February, 1917).
Durrington Cemetery contains a total of 141 Australian WW1 Soldiers.
