Son of Hugh Vallance and Letitia Helena Vallance nee Cunningham of  'Kara Kara', Racecourse Road, Flemington, Victoria,

Commenced return to Australia on 8 July 1919 aboard HT  Friedruchsruh on 1 September 1919.

During 1930c Joseph married Alice Rattray in Victoria
