Biography

Norman Wakefield FOLKS was born in 1888 in Dry Creek, Bonnie Doon, Victoria

His parents were Thomas Allen FOLKS and Ann Elizabeth TROY

He enlisted on 17th September 1914 with the Australian Army - he was with the 14th Battalion, D Company.  Unit embarked from Melbourne on board HMAT Ulysses on 22nd December 1914

Norman was Killed in Action on 8th August 1915 - No Known Grave

He is commemorated at the Lone Pine Memorial and the Australian War Memorial

He saw service in Egypt and Gallipoli - medals awarded were

1914-15 Star, British War Medal and Victory Medal

Normans younger brother Allan Edward FOLKS was subsequently Killed in Action in France
