16 Mar 1919: Honoured Mention in Dispatches, For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty on the night of 16 April 1918 north of Buire. Volunteered to start on the heavily shelled portion of the trench under construction. He worked calmly and steadily under heavy fire. By his courage and devotion to duty he enabled the start of work at one of the worst parts. His disregard to danger was an inspiration to his comrades.
