Was a member of the Tumby Bay Rifle Club

Biography

Born in Bergen, Norway

Living in Tumby Bay, he was a member of the local rifle club and a sailor.

Enlisted 11 March 1916 at Tumby Bay office.

Embarked with 6th Reinforcements of the 32nd Battalion at Adelaide on 11 April 1916.

Upon reaching Etaples, France he was admitted to hospital with German Measles on 29 July 1916. He was discharged on 8 August 1916.

Joined the 32nd Battalion on 26 August 1916.

A couple days later he was admitted to the 14th Field Ambulance with Bronchitis, but re-joined his unit on 1 September 1916.

On 22 September he was absent without leave from his unit from 10am to 1:45pm.

He was evacuated to England from the front line with Trench Feet on 30 October 1916. After being discharged he spent time in various personal camps throughout England before proceeding overseas to France on 15 June 1917.

He officially re-joined his unit on 8 July 1917.

Killed in Action on 30 September 1917 - no record of death.

Buried in in rural area without a cross above his grave. Body later exhumed and identified and thus reburied in Tyne Cot.
