Previously served as Lieutenant (appointed 1 July 1910) in 'C' Squadron, 6th Light Horse Regiment, at Manilla, NSW. At outbreak of war was on Reserve of Officers. Joined AIF 1 Nov 14, Embarked as Lieutenant.

"Brother, late Capt. L.L. Richardson, M.C., R.F.C. (originally Sergt 6 L.H.R.)'. (AWM 131 Informant Brother, N.S.P. Richardson, Bereen Station, Barraba, NSW).

With Lieutenant Buskin and three men, 'killed by one shell from a 75 bursting on their parapet.' (7 LHR UH pi 4, 17).

16th Sept - 'The Turks thought we were going to attack. They poure4 in a solid machine gun & rifle fire and also a few shells. One burst fairly close to my dug out and a few shrapnel bullets'came in. Six of our Regt. were killed 5 with a shell, rare shot through a loophole during the demonstration, Capt, Richardson and Lieut. Buskin of A Squadron were 2 of those killed.' (Diary, Sergeant D. 2 Oct - 'Just heard that Capt. Richardson of the 6th ALH has been killed at the front. He was a quiet man very anxious to do his duty. and was liked generally.' (Papers, Trooper H.F.W. Tucker, No. 177, 6th LHR. ML MSS 1013)
