"LATE PTE. G. TOLHURST.
Pte. George P. Tolhurst, fifth son of Mr. H. Tolhurst of Queenstown, Port Adelaide, was killed in action in France on Angust 31. He enlisted in May, 1915, and left for the front on August 26 in the same year, celebrating his 18th birthday on the voyage. He saw active service at Gallipoli, and later was sent to France with his battalion, arriving there in March last. He served in the firing line until his death. The deceased had three brothers on active service, two of whom are in England, and the other, Dvr. H. G. Tolhurst, in Mesopotamia. He was of a bright disposition, and will be missed by his many friends, both in the district where he resided, and in the Islington Workshops, where he was employed." - from the Adelaide Register 06 Oct 1916 (nla.gov.au)
