Thomas Le Roy was living with his mother, Mrs Jane Le Roy, 89 Highett Street, Richmond, Melbourne, Victoria when he enlisted in May 1915. He served with the 14th Battalion and transferred to the 46th Battalion during early 1916. In May, 1917, he was listed as missing, amended a few weeks later to wounded with gunshot wounds to his legs and shoulder. He was evacuated to England for recovery.
He eventually returned to his unit in January 1918 and was killed in action around three months later.
His younger brother, 207 Pte. Alfred Le Roy 60th Battalion was killed in action at Fromelles on the 19 July 1916, aged 18.
