Son of Joseph Benjamin Olliffe and Elizabeth Catherine Olliffe of Sydney, NSW.
Husband of Elizabeth Frances Olliffe nee Mills of Wyvanhoe Carlton Street, Kensington, NSW. Walter and Elizaabeth married on 13 February 1903. Elizabeth died in QLD on 26 September 1919.
On 17 December 1919 Walter re-married to Margaret Helen Foster in the Register Office, St. Georges Square, London, England. Harvey Thorp Hamilton officiated.
Commenced return to Australia on 22 January 1920 aboard HT Fredrichshruh disembarking on 9 March 1930 at Melbourne for onward travel to Sydney
