Horace Bradley was the eldest son of William and Emily Bradley, born on 25 June 1883 in Coniston, Yorkshire, England. On 20 July 1912, Horace boarded the immigration ship “Limerick” in London, arriving in Townsville, Queensland on 3 September 1912.
He married Sarah Letica Lambert on 16 November 1912 and they welcomed a son, William Bradley on 29 May 1913. Unfortunately, due to complications of birth, Sarah passed away on 11 June 1913.
Horace married Gladys Alma Anderson in Brisbane on 27 December 1916. He joined the 20/26th Battalion 25 May 1917 and was transferred to the 52nd Battalion on 9 February 1918.
While Horace was fighting the war in France, Gladys welcomed their son John Herbert Bradley on 21 October 1917 and unfortunately Horace never got to see or hold their son before he was killed in action on 3 May 1918.
