Biography

"LATE PTE. LESLIE G. HOSKING.

The late Pte. Leslie Gordon Hosking was the third son of Mr. and Mrs. William Hosking, of Yacka. He was born at Balaklava on April 11, 1891. In September, 1914, he left Western Australia with the 1st Contingent, and, after spending several months in Egypt in strenuous training, proceeded to Gallipoli Per insula, where he landed, with the famous 3rd Brigade. He went through some of the most dangerous fighting for three months without receiving a wound, but on July 26 he was shot in the head, and died while being taken by transport to hospital. He was buried at sea." - from the Adelaide Register 12 Aug 1915 (nla.gov.au)
