2708 Company Quartermaster Sergeant (CQMS) Kenneth Warren Sharp, 5th Pioneer Battalion was a 27 year old auctioneer from North Adelaide, South Australia when he enlisted on 20 January 1916 with his older brother Stanley Vernon. He embarked for overseas with the 5th Reinforcements from Adelaide on 21 September 1916 aboard HMAT Commonwealth. After serving with the 6th Field Company Engineers in France, he returned to Australia on 18 August 1919. He was the brother of Sergeant Stanley Vernon Sharp and Malcolm Robert Sharp.

Kenneth Warren Sharp was born in North Adelaide, South Australia, on the 17th of December 1888. To his father, Joseph James Sharp and his mother Annie Olivia Smith, living at McKinnon Parade. He worked as an Auctioneer for livestock and followed the Church of England faith. Before enlisting in the war, Sharp served in the Eaton Smith Rifle Blub for 13 months, and 2 years at Hamley Bridge Light Horse. He had a fair complexion, with blue eyes and brown hair, standing at 5 feet and 6 inches.
Sharp enlisted on the 20th of January 1916, at 27 years old in Adelaide with his older brother Stanley Vernon. After finishing his training at the School of Musketry Cheltenham from the 30th of May 1916 to the 18th of May 1916 followed by Bombing School, he was appointed as a Sergeant. Kenneth Warren Sharp embarked on the “Commonwealth” on the 21st of September 1916 from Adelaide and disembarked at Devonport on the 14 of November 1916.
He was appointed 8th Brigade, Permanent Sergeant during his time at the Pioneer Training Battalion located at Perham Downs England on the 16th of November 1916. Then he was assigned to the 6th Training Battalion situated in Fovand and his rank reverted to Acting Corporal in July, and Private in November 1916. Then he was transferred to the Engineers Depot Parkhouse.
He was transferred to the 1st Motor Transport Company, where he was able to receive a pay adjustment on the 22nd of September 1917, in England.
Two months later Kenneth Warren Sharp was appointed Lance Corporal and was deployed overseas to France, departing from the port of Southampton on the 17th of November 1917.
In 1918 on the 2nd of January, Kenneth Warren Sharp received a TAB vaccine, administered at Bedford, Military Camp. On the 15 of April 1918 Sharp was transferred to the 68th Motor Transport Company, where the unit was responsible for transportation of ammunition and artillery resupply. He was granted leave to Paris from the 22nd of September 1918 till the 31st, returning for duty from leave.
On the 9th of July, Sharp departed London by ship, to Port Melbourne and returned on the 18th of August 1919. Kenneth Warren Sharp was discharged 2nd October 1919.
After his service, he married Thelma Rita Violet Player on 6 June 1922 at the Congregational Church in North Adelaide. Together they had a son on the 7 of March 1924, named Warren Player Sharp (1924-2012). Kenneth Warren Sharp died of natural causes, in Myrtle Bank South Australia on the 20th of September 1966 he was buried at Centennial Park Cemetery at the age of 78. His wife died at 89 on the 7 of June 1990; they shared the same grave.
