Son of Stephen Simmons and Alice Singer formerly Simmons nee Gibbs of 40 Whitehall Street, Footscray, Victoria.
Brother of Albert Ernest Simmons who died as a Prisoner of War on 31 August 1918 having served with the 6th Battalion and is buried in the Cologne Southern Cemetery Plot XV, Row A, Grave 53
