Eldest of three brothers who served in WWII, Flying Officer Cyril Hampden Isaac (Service No:1316) enlisted in the RAAF on 24 February 1941 at No 1 Recruiting Centre Melbourne as an Aircraftman I - mustered as Photographer. ACI Isaac was attached to Survey Flight Canberra before posting to 451 Squadron, and embarked with his Unit from Sydney for Egypt on 5 April 1941. ACI Isaac served with 451 and 454 Squadrons and 285 Wing RAF in Egyypt, and was a Sergeant attached to 460 Squadron when he embarked from Egypt for England on 10 April 1944. Commissioned on 16 August 1944, F/O Isaac embarked from England for Melbourne on board HT Andes on 17 october 1945, and was attached to RAAF Overseas HQ at Discharge on 5 December 1945. Over 1000 photographs taken by F/O Isaac in WWII are held by the Australian War Memorial.

Cyril was born in Bendigo, Victoria in 1909, second of six children of Cyril Everett Isaac OBE (b1884 in Melbourne, Victoria) and Elizabeth Brown (b1885 in Jamieson, Victoria). Cyril Snr (a Teacher) and Elizabeth married in 1907 in Kevington via Kamieson, and lived in Bendigo and Melbourne, where Cyril Snr was a Teacher. Cyril Snr served in WWI (Lieutenant; Service No:3399). Following his Discharge from the Army, Cyril Snr studied Horticulture in England, and established his business as a Nurseryman in Melbourne. Cyril Snr was an Educator, Horticulturalist, Conservationist, Politician, Justice of the Peace and Rotarian - he served as a Dandenong Shire Councillor and on the Victorian Legislative Council, and in 1956 was appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire (OBE).

Cyril worked as a Nurseryman in Melbourne where, in 1930 he married Irene May Fox (b1910 in Melbourne, Victoria). Cyril and Irene settled in Melbourne, where Cyril was a Nurseryman, returning to Melbourne following his Discharge from the RAAF. Cyril and Irene moved to Frankston in the 1950s, where Cyril was a Nurseryman until his death in 1971.
