Son of William Francis O'Donnell and Mary O'Donnell of Cooma, NSW.

Commenced return to Australia on 10 January 1918 aboard HT Corinthic disembarking on 7 March 1918 then transhipped ot HT Port Darwin on 4 May 1918 for onward travel to Sydney.

Medals: 1914-1915 Star, British War Medal, Victory Medal

During 1924c Hugh married Kathleen Mary Scott in  NSW
