"...3117 Private John Cyril Barrett, 50th Battalion, of Mount Cooper, SA. A farmer prior to enlistement, Pte Barrett embarked with the 8th Reinforcements from Adelaide on HMAT Berrima on 16 December 1916. On 27 September 1917 he was killed in action in Belgium, aged 25. He has no known grave and is commemorated at the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial." - SOURCE (www.awm.gov.au)
