Prior to enlistment he worked as a barman is his uncle's hotel, Tattersalls Hotel in boulder, Western Australia

11 September 1916 - joined Aust Corps. Cyclist

15 November 1917 - detached to 3 Division Signals

25 November 1916 - proceeded to re-inforce Cyclist Battalion

6 September 1917 - to hospital with knee injury

19 September 1917 - marched out to rejoin unit

20 November 1917 - rejoined unit from detachment

16 February 1918 - taken on strength by 16 Battalion from detachment to Aust Corp. Cyclist

24 June 1918 - Wounded in action, gunshot wound to abdomen
