Private Victor Francis Perrott (Service No:VX148720) initially served in the ACMF (Private; Service No:V132543) from 15 April 1940 to 2 June 1944 with 4th Training Battaion and 59th Infantry Battalion, serving in New Guinea in 1943. Private Perrott was 'in the field' when he enlisted in the AIF on 3 June 1944, and served with 58/59 Infantry Battalion in Borneo (Torokina, Madang; 13 December 1944 to 3 December 1945). Private Perrott was attached to 58/59 Infantry Battalion at Discharge on 17 December 1945. Private Perrott was one of three siblings - David and Hamish - who served in WWII.
Born in Melbourne, Victoria in 1919, Victor was second of four children of Reuben Perrott (b1888 at Snapper Point, Mornington Peninsula, Victoria) and Linda Emma Lydia Higgins (b1895 in Melbourne, Victoria). Reuben (a Butcher) and Linda married in Melbourne in 1916, living in Frankston and Melbourne - where Reuben was a Butcher and Labourer. In the mid 1930s the family settled in Northcote, Melbourne where Reuben was a Builder's Labourer.
Victor started work in Melbourne as a Labourer, and was a Textile Worker in 1940 when he enlisted in the Army. In 1941 he married Eileen (Ninnie) Janet Gall (b1921 in Melbourne, Victoria) and, following his Discharge, Victor and Eileen settled in Melbourne, where they raised their family and Victor was a Textile Worker. Following their divorce in the mid 1960s, both remarried - Victor to May Silversides (b1910 in Yorkshire, England) - May (a Boot and Shoe Machinist) immigrated in 1950, arriving in Melbourne on board the Georgic, and working in Melbourne as a Shoe Machinist. Victor was working as a Labourer in Melbourne in 1964 when he and May married. The couple settled in Melbourne, where Victor died in 2010.
