Son of John and Alice Hancock of Wilga Vale, Barellen, NSW. Brother of Thomas Valentine Hanccok who was killed in action on 6 August 1915 while serving with the 4th Battalion and has no known grave. His name appears on the Lone Pine Memorial, Panel 22
