Son of William John Smyth and Bridget Smyth nee Welsh of Thursday Island, QLD

Next of kin given as his brother Joseph Smyth of Victoria Street, Spring Hill, QLD but later changed to his sister Mrs. Elizabeth Valentine of Bowen Street, Brisbane, QLD.

Commenced return to Australia on 19 April 1919 aboard HT Marathon disembarking on 10 June 1919 at Sydney for onward travel to Brisbane
