When George Francis Ernest McDowall was born in 1891 in Nirranda, Victoria, his father, Walter, was 27 and his mother, Margaret, was 28. He had five brothers and one sister. He died on 25 July 1916 in France at the age of 25, and was buried in Somme, France.
His brother Albert Leslie was born on 8 August 1894 in Nirranda, Victoria, when George Francis Ernest was 3 years old.
His brother James was born on 8 August 1893 in Nirranda, Victoria, when George Francis Ernest was 2 years old.
