Son of Frank Hartley, 'Tyrmple', Mildura, Victoria

PRIVATE HARTLEY
Word comes from Mildura that Bennett Hartley had been killed in action at the front. Ha was son of Mr Frank Hartley, a former resident of White Cliffs, and was well-known in Wilcannia. No particulars are to hand.

Young Bennett Hartley, son of Mr. Frank Hartley, formerly Editor for a brief period of the "Champion," was killed in action in the British offensive in France last week. He went through the whole of the  Gallipoli campaign, and received special mention from his officers. He was offered promotion to the rank of Lieutenant, but declined it. He was for a time a clerk in Mr. Cowan's office.
