Sydney Herbert Semmens bn 22/11/1883 McLaren Vale SA, farmer.
Enlisted 26/7/1915 #1641
Embarked for Egypt 18/11/1915 on HMAT Geelong.
1st LHB – 3rd LHR, 12th reinforcements Adelaide.
4th Regiment 2/11/16 as a Sergeant. Served in the Camel Corps in Egypt/Palestine and apparently had a passionate dislike of camels thereafter.
14th LHR 1/8/1918.
Enlisted in WW2 but service is unclear.
Syd farmed at Minnipa on the Eyre Peninsula thereafter and survived the Depression but was killed in a railway accident d 1/10/1950 at Kyancutta. His farm was sold.

Enlisted 26/7/1915 #1641

Embarked for Egypt 18/11/1915 on HMAT Geelong.

1st LHB – 3rd LHR, 12th reinforcements Adelaide.

4th Regiment 2/11/16 as a Sergeant. Served in the Camel Corps in Egypt/Palestine and apparently had a passionate dislike of camels thereafter.  The Semmens families have had a long assocaition with horses in their farming enterprises.

14th LHR 1/8/1918.

Enlisted in WW2 reserves.
