CECIL GREEN MARJASON, son of Mr. Joseph and Mrs. Mary Jane Marjason, was born at Hurstville, New South Wales, on 23rd October, 1891. He was educated at the Hurstville Public School and Fort Street High School, and joined the service of the Bank at Head Office on 22nd November, 1910. His subsequent appointments were to Townsville in 1912, Hughenden in October, 1915, and Atherton in December, 1915.

He enlisted on 3rd July, 1916, and embarked for service abroad in the November of that year. He served in France from March, 1917, to May, 1918, and took part in the Battles of Bullecourt, Messines and Passchendaele in 1917, and Dernancourt, Villers-Bretonneux and Hamel in 1918, finally taking part in the great offensive beginning on 8th August.

On 1st October, 1918, he was promoted to the rank of corporal and lance-sergeant.
