'PHILLIPS, Ernest Alfred. Corporal, No. 1545, Motor Transport Column. Born at Rockhampton in 1890, and educated at Allenstown State School, Rockhampton. The son of Arthur John and Jane Phillips, of 33, Davis Street, Rockhampton. Married on 1 9th August, 1916, Lillian A. Kirkbride, daughter of J. and Margaret Kirkbride, of Caithness, North Fitzroy, Melbourne. Child, Jean Margaret. Enlisted in September, 1914; attached to the Motor Transport Column. News has been received that Private Arthur Claude Phillips (/explore/people/322008), son of Mr. A. J. Phillips, 33 Davis-street, Rockhampton, has been wounded. Three of Mr. Phillips's sons have joined the forces. One, Private Ernest Phillips, was invalided home some months ago, but is now working in the military motor garage in Melbourne.
