Biography contributed by Stephen Brooks

George Sing was the son of George and Margaret Sing, of Launceston, Tasmania. He initially enlisted in September 1914 in the 15th Battalion, at 5 feet 5 inches and 54 kg in weight. He left Australia 22 December 1914. In Egypt he was called before a medical board and they decided he was medically unfit for active service due to being undersize and insufficiently developed. He was returned to Australia in at the time of the Anzac landing and was discharged in Hobart on 12 June 1915.

George Bush Sing enlisted again less than three weeks later with the 12th Battalion and sent overseas in August 1915. He transferred to the 52nd Battalion in Egypt and was mortally wounded in the very heavy fighting at Mouquet Farm on the 3 September 1916. Hit in the back by shrapnel he died four days later in the No. 3 Canadian General Hospital in Boulogne, France.
