The son of Henry and Eliza Moore of of Bullyard, Bundaberg, Queensland.

His remains were discovered in 1934, 18 years after his death near Mouquet Farm and identified by his top dentures and a handkerchief with his name inscribed. He was reinterred in the Combles Communal Cemetery Extension, Picardie, France.
